A bar is a business that sells alcoholic beverages for immediate on-premises consumption. Although the terms may have different connotations, there is no definitive difference between bars, pubs, taverns and lounges where alcohol is served commercially.
Some bars serve food or may be parts of restaurants. Bars that are part of hotels may be known in some areas as long bars or hotel lounges.
